GENERATION ONE:

1. ~ ~ ~ THOMAS HENDL was born on 13 April 1814 in Tuschkau-Dorf 30, Bohemia; died 14 January 1893 in Chotieschau 1, Bohemia.  Thomas married ANNA GATTERA on 16 January 1838 in Lossin 7, Bohemia.  Anna was born in 18 January 1814 in Lossin and was the daughter of JOSEPH GATTERA and DOROTHEA SCHNEEBERGER.  

Children of THOMAS HENDL and ANNA GATTERA included:

   JOSEPH 2 HENDL, born 21 May 1848.

GENERATION TWO:

2. ~ ~ ~ JOSEPH HENDL (THOMAS)  was born on 21 May 1848 in Lossin 7, Bohemia and was the son of THOMAS HENDL and ANNA GATTERA.  He married MARGARETHA BOTELSAK on 12 February 1874 at Parish Church, Chotieschau, Bohemia.  Margaretha was born on 6 February 1843 and was the daughter of JOSEF BOTELSAK and CECILIA KRAL.  Margaretha died in 1923 aged 80 years.

Joseph (and Margaretha) arrived in New Zealand on 24 August 1875 on the ship "Friederburg". 

Children of JOSEPH HENDL and MARGARETHA BOTELSAK were:

   ANNA 3 HENDL, born 1 February 1868 in Bohemia.

   MARIA (Mary) 4 HENDL, born 26 August 1874 in Mantau, Bohemia.

   JOSEPH 5 HENDL, born 28 June 1878 in Puhoi, New Zealand.

    MARGARET 6 HENDL, who married MARTIN WENZLICK.

   BARTHOLOMEUS 7 HENDL, born 3 September 1880 in Puhoi, New Zealand. 

   CATHERINE  HENDL, born 3 September 1880 in Puhoi, New Zealand.  Catherine married MARTIN TOLHOPF on 3 May 1898 in Puhoi.  Martin was born on 20 March 1872 in Puhoi; died 16 July 1933 in Auckland, NZ.  Catherine died on 14 October 1962 in Auckland, NZ. 

   JOHN  HENDL, born 14 March 1882 in Puhoi, New Zealand.  John died on 29 March 1882. 

   THERESA GERTRUDE (Rosie) HENDL, born 4 July 1883 in Puhoi, New Zealand.  Rosie married GLEDNEY SMITH DAVIS on 22 November 1910 in Ellerslie, Auckland.  Gledney was born on 1 March 1885 in Buckland, Kent, England and died on 14 September 1916 on Great Barrier Island, Auckland.  Rosie later married WALTER HENRY DICKSON in 1925.  Walter was born 1882 in Tasmania, Australia.  He died on 23 July 1946 in Orewa, North Auckland.  Rosie died on 26 November 1956 also in Orewa.

GENERATION THREE:

3. ~ ~ ~ ANNA HENDL (THOMAS > JOSEPH)  was born on 1 February 1868 in Bohemia and was the elder daughter of JOSEPH HENDL and MARGARETHA GATTERA.  Anna married MATTHEW JOSEPH WECH on 11 February 1890 in Puhoi, New Zealand.  Anna died on 24 January 1948 in Auckland, New Zealand.

4. ~ ~ ~ MARIA (Mary) HENDL (THOMAS > JOSEPH)  was born on 26 August 1874 in Mantau, Bohemia and was the second daughter of JOSEPH HENDL and MARGARETHA GATTERA.  Maria married JOHANN (John) WENZLICK on 18 February 1896 in Puhoi, New Zealand.  Johann was born on 4 May 1864 in Littitz, Bohemia and was the second son of JOHANNES NEPOMUK WENZLICK and ANNA PLESCHER.  He had arrived in New Zealand on the ship “Liverpool” on 5 March 1866.   Maria died on 19 November 1952 in Puhoi.

5. ~ ~ ~ JOSEPH HENDL (THOMAS > JOSEPH)  was born on 28 June 1878 in Puhoi, New Zealand and was the eldest son of JOSEPH HENDL and MARGARETHA GATTERA.  Joseph married NORA KARL on 22 November 1904 at the Church of St Peter & St Paul in Puhoi.   Nora was born on 2 December 1881 in Kopua, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand; died 28 April 1949 in Avondale, Auckland.  Joseph died on 25 September 1971 in Auckland.

Children of JOSEPH HENDL and NORA KARL were:

   VIOLET MARY HENDL, born 1906.  Violet married JOHN JOSEPH McCULLOUGH in 1929.

   WILLIAM JOHN HENDL, born 1908.

   IRENE MAY  HENDL, born 1911.

6. ~ ~ ~ MARGARET HENDL (THOMAS > JOSEPH)  was born in Puhoi, New Zealand and was the third daughter of JOSEPH HENDL and MARGARETHA GATTERA.  Margaret married MARTIN WENZLICK at the Church of St Peter & St Paul in Puhoi on 3 May 1898.  Martin was born on 19 December 1867 in Puhoi and was the third son of JOHANNES NEPOMUK WENZLICK and ANNA PLESCHER.    Margaret died on 6 January 1946 in Puhoi.

7. ~ ~ ~ BARTHOLOMEW (THOMAS > JOSEPH)  HENDL, was born on 3 September 1880 in Puhoi, New Zealand.  Bartholomew married MARY MACKIE in 1905.  Mary was born in October 1880 in Scotland; died 2 October 1938 in Helensville, North Auckland, New Zealand.  Bartholomew died on 21 July 1958 in Avondale, Auckland, NZ.  Mary died in 1938 aged 58 years.

Children of BARTHOLOMEW HENDL and MARY MACKIE were:

   VIOLET MARY HENDL, born 1906.  Violet married JOHN JOSEPH McCULLOUGH in 1929.

   WILLIAM JOHN HENDL, born 1908.

   IRENE MAY HENDL, born 1911.
