GENERATION ONE

1.~ ~ ~ Anton SCHEDEWY was born in Bohemia in about 1842. Anton married MARGARETHE RUSSEK. She was born about 1843 in Bohemia. Anton and Margarethe and their four eldest children all arrived in New Zealand on the ship Shakespeare on 23 January 1876 and settled in Puhoi, North Auckland.

Children of ANTON SCHEDEWY and MARGARETHE RUSSEK included:

*              ELIZABETH 2 SCHEDEWY, born 27 November 1864.

*              MARIA 3 SCHEDEWY, born 1869.

*              THERESA SCHEDEWY, born about 1871; died 25 June 1939. Theresa was buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery (Row 6 Plot 140)

*              MARTIN 4 SCHEDEWY, born about 1874.

*             DORATHEA 5 SCHEDEWY, born 1880 in Puhoi, North Auckland, NZ.

Anton was naturalized on 24 August 1899. At the time he was a Farmer, aged 58 years. He died on 15 April 1924 in Puhoi and Margarethe died on 15 October 1918, also at Puhoi. They were both buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery (Row 5 Plot 108).

2. ~ ~ ~ ELIZABETH SCHEDEWY (ANTON) was born on 27 November 1864 and was the eldest daughter of ANTON SCHEDEWY and MARGARETHE RUSSEK. She arrived in New Zealand on the ship Shakespeare on 23 January 1876 aged 11 years.

Elizabeth married ANTON RUSSEK in 1880. Anton was born in Bohemia and arrived in New Zealand with his family on the War Spirit on 27 June 1863, aged 6 years.

Elizabeth died on 30 August 1901, aged 37 years and was buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery (Row 11 Plot 231). Anton died on 13 July 1926.

3. ~ ~ ~ MARIA SCHEDEWY (ANTON) was born in 1869 in Bohemia and was the eldest daughter of ANTON SCHEDEWY and MARGARETHE RUSSEK. She arrived in New Zealand on the ship Shakespeare on 23 January 1876.

Maria married VINCENT WENZLICK in 1888. Vincent was born on 19 May 1862 in Littitz, Bohemia and was the eldest son of JOHANN NEPOMUK WENZLICK and ANNA PLESCHER.

Maria died on 3 May 1959 in Puhoi. Vincent died on 30 July 1950 also in Puhoi. They are both buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery (Row 5 Plots 104 & 105)

3. ~ ~ ~ MARTIN SCHEDEWY (ANTON) was born about 1874 in Bohemia and was the eldest son of ANTON SCHEDEWY and MARGARETHE RUSSEK. He arrived in New Zealand on the ship Shakespeare on 23 January 1876.

Martin married MAGDALEN STRAKA on 9 January 1900. Magdalen was born in 1866 and was the daughter of PAUL STRAKA and MARIA BOTELSAK.

Children of MARTIN SCHEDEWY and MAGDALEN STRAKA were:

*              MARY SCHEDEWY, born 17 April 1901; died as an infant.

*              JOSEPH SCHEDEWY, born 28 July 1904. Joseph married AMELIA GERTRUDE SCHOLLUM. Amelia was born in 1911; died 23 April 1985. Joseph died on 29 March 1985. They were both buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery (Row 12 Plot 267 and 268).

*              WILLIAM ANTON SCHEDEWY, born 26 February 1905. William married WINNIFRED MARGARET PAUL. Winnifred was born in 1899 and died 5 February 1981. William died on 5 September 1966. They were both buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery (Row 12 Plots 269 and 270).

4. ~ ~ ~ DORATHEA 4 SCHEDEWY, was born in 1880 in Puhoi, North Auckland and was the forth daughter of ANTON SCHEDEWY and MARGARETHE RUSSEK. Dorathea married JOSEPH STRAKA on 4 February 1902. Joseph was born in 1873 and was the son of PAUL STRAKA and MARIA BOTELSAK.

Dorathea died on 2 April 1954 and Joseph died on 3 August 1963. They were both buried at Puhoi Public Cemetery.
